Language PolicyAs a general rule the minimum accepted level of language proficiency related to the studying, teaching or working language of the institution is B2(CEFR) unless the host institute sets as a prerequisite a different proficiency level. Since first semester we emphasize the importance of language proficiency,especially for those (student-staff) interested in mobility. English courses are provided within the study program, these courses are adopted accordingly to the proficiency level of the students. As almost all of our students hold at least a B2 proficiency certificate in one language(English)the courses are mostly terminology for firefighters and related sciences. Furthermore language proficiency is one of the most important criteria in the selection progress. At all cost we ensure that outgoing mobile participants are well prepared for the mobility, including having attained the necessary level of linguistic proficiency. As for incoming students Greek language lessons can take place during afternoon hours no fees charged. For incoming students courses are provided in english as shown in our public course catalogue. Supporting language learningIncomers can attend Greek language courses which usually take place during afternoon hours free of charge.Buddy program will take place also for short mobility incomers. They can also attend on line the courses provided by ilsp institution http://www.xanthi.ilsp.gr/filog/ch2/menu.htm Incoming participants will be encouraged to contribute in assigments or other tasks or projects so as to interact with natives in order to facilitate social integration. As part of our language policy an especially in regards with supporting language learning all students will be informed that in case of Erasmus mobility they can assess their linguistic skills with Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support (OLS) is the new online tool for learning languages on-the-go. Since all of our students hold at least a B2 language certificate, support is not generally needed, nevertheless the institution always solves any issue that may differentiate from the norm ad hoc, taking all measures necessary to help all students who want to improve their linguistic skills. |
